Post Alpha-Bits Makes a Big Splash With the Kiddos

Post Alpha-Bits Cereal
Shaped like the letters of the alphabet, Alpha Bits is a lightly sweetened oat cereal made by Post. With Super Why now on the box, it's clear the cereal's target market is children. Although sugar is second in the cereal's listed ingredients, it does provide whole grains and is enriched with a number of vitamins and minerals.

The boys in my household were quite excited to try Post Alpha-Bits cereal. My 4th grader wanted to use his superior spelling to wow us with his skills before eating them. It was fun watching him make his own letters when he gave up his search for and "I" and an "S". My kindergartner was excited to see Super Why on the box, and was encouraged to spell some of his class sight words after seeing how much fun his big brother was having.

Not only have they had them for breakfast, but as a dry snack.

As for me, I was happy to see them enjoying something that only has 110 calories in a 1 cup serving. It also provides 23g of carbohydrates, the primary source of energy for the body!

What I'm not so stoked about? That 10g of sugar in one cup of cereal (which is equivalent to 2 1/2 tsp worth). I wish they could get that down a bit without sacrificing the taste.

I received one trial box of Alpha-Bits through BzzAgent.

Holiday Treat: Deviled Eggs

Deviled Eggs. I LOVE 'EM! It's turned into tradition that my mother and I get together and make a batch or two for the holidays. Occasionally we are even joined by one of my beautiful sisters. We usually make a batch for Thanksgiving and again for Christmas -- because everybody wants more! Here is a pic of one from our latest batch.

It fairly easy to make and fun when you have friends or family to make it together with.

Here is a basic recipe (we tend to wing the measurements and make it to out taste)

  • Ingredients 12 large eggs, hard boiled and peeled
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard Salt and pepper, for taste
  • Paprika, for garnishing
You could even add sweet gherkin pickles sliced and/or Pimentos for garnishing

Halve your 12 eggs lengthwise. Remove yolks and place in a small bowl. Mash yolks with a fork and stir in mayonnaise, pickle relish, and mustard. Add salt and pepper, to taste. I also like to add in a little (dried or fresh) celery and parsley. Fill egg whites evenly with yolk mixture. Garnish with paprika, pickles and pimentos. Store covered in refrigerator.

Thanks to foodnetwork.com for some of the measurements. :)

Crest® 3D White Professional Effects Whitestrips

I took on my first voxbox challenge from Influenster! I received the Crest #D White strips and dug right in. I applied once a day for 30 minutes and have just passed 20 days. I must say I was skeptical about the "You'll start seeing a whiter smile after three days..." statement, but I must I definitely saw a change!

I am addicted to Lipton's Green Tea and unfortunately the tea in the nectar of gods had tarnished my smile. I am pretty stoked with the results I got. Thanks Influenster and Crest!

I really should have gotten a before picture, but I'm afraid I didn't...
